The Eye Test

You will be examined by Rachel Mason, the practice owner and fully qualified Optometrist. Our aim is to provide quality eyecare and service to all our customers.

Our children’s eye examinations use picture cards and interactive assessments to provide a ‘child friendly’ environment. Our children’s eyes are very important and many eye complications need to be picked up at an early age to prevent a ‘lazy eye’.

We make eye tests for children FUN, so bring in your children for a thorough examination. Children’s eye examinations are FREE under the NHS.

We use modern equipment to examine the adult eye. A thorough examination is important to detect any signs of eye disease or related systemic problems, such as Diabetes.

Our Optometrist is qualified to undertake examinations under the Welsh Eye Care Initiative.
We are able to perform dilated examinations and provide a full visual field assessment.

Rachel is friendly and approachable, so DON’T WORRY she will take care of your eyesight, and don’t forget to ask as many questions as you want, she is here to help you.

NHS Free Eye Test

Who qualifies for a free NHS eye test?

The following people qualify:

Under 16, or under 19 years of age and in full time education
Aged 60 or over
Registered blind or partially sighted
Diagnosed as having diabetes or glaucoma
40 years of age or over with a first degree relative with Glaucoma, or at risk of glaucoma diagnosed by an Ophthalmologist
Prescribed a complex lens

You are also entitled to a free NHS eye test if you (or your partner) are receiving the following benefits or credits:

Income Support or Income Based Job Seekers Allowance
Working Tax Credit and are named on a Tax Credit NHS Exemption certificate
Child Tax Credit and are named on a Tax Credit NHS Exemption certificate
You are named on a NHS certificate for full help with Health Costs (HC2)

Please bring your proof of entitlement when you attend your eye test as you will be asked to provide it.
